The Pavilion at the Tower of London

21 December 2021 Written by Ultimate

Overview

For over a decade, Ultimate delivered a world-class seasonal event space at one of the UK’s most iconic landmarks, the Tower of London. The Pavilion, nestled within the historic moat of the Tower, became a sought-after venue for high-profile corporate events, awards dinners, and charity fundraisers. Despite the unforeseen challenges that cut the project short, the legacy of this remarkable partnership remains strong.

Project Success

Originally awarded a seven-year, two-season contract, the project was extended due to its overwhelming success, running for a total of 17 seasons from 2011 to 2021. Over this time, The Pavilion hosted an impressive 415 events, catering to more than 180,000 guests. Clients ranged from leading corporations to esteemed charities, including Street Child, The Prince’s Trust, The Royal Marsden, and the United Nations. Collectively, these events helped raise over £35 million for charitable causes.

Delivering Excellence

Operating within the historical and logistical constraints of the Tower of London moat presented unique challenges. The construction of the 700-seater marquee was a meticulously planned operation, requiring every individual component to be craned over the Tower walls. Once assembled, all deliveries—from delicate glassware to gourmet catering—had to be transported into the moat via forklift, ensuring seamless event execution.

A Legacy to be Proud Of

While Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) has since repurposed the moat for new initiatives, Ultimate's work at The Pavilion remains a defining achievement. This project strengthened CH&CO’s enduring relationship with HRP and set a benchmark for large-scale, high-end event execution in historic locations.

Looking Ahead

Ultimate continues to create extraordinary event spaces across the UK, and exciting new opportunities in London are on the horizon for next summer. Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming projects!
